Mountaineer Solar is a lead generation service, not a solar installer. We operate mountaineersolar.com to connect West Virginia homeowners, farmers, and businesses with independent, third-party solar installation companies. We may receive compensation when you are connected with an installer through our service.

Information We Collect

  • Contact information — name, phone number, email address.
  • Location information — ZIP code, city, county, and basic property details you provide.
  • Project information — monthly electric bill, utility provider, property type, battery interest, timeframe, and notes.
  • Calculator data — inputs and results from our solar savings calculator.
  • Technical information — IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral source, UTM parameters, and advertising click IDs (gclid, fbclid, msclkid) collected via cookies and analytics tools.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your request and connect you with solar installation companies.
  • To share your submitted information with up to three (3) independent solar installation companies that service your area, so they can provide you with quotes and proposals.
  • To send you follow-up emails related to your solar quote request.
  • To improve our website, forms, calculator, and lead quality.
  • To display relevant advertisements on informational pages.
  • To prevent fraud, spam, and protect our systems.

How We Share Your Information

We share your information with the following categories of third parties:

  • Solar installation companies — Up to 3 vetted, independent installers who may contact you by phone, text, or email about your request.
  • Service providers — CRM tools, email services, form processing, and analytics providers that help us operate our service (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Sheets).
  • Advertising partners — Ad networks (e.g., Google AdSense) and tracking pixels that may collect technical data for ad targeting.

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or unrelated third parties. Sharing with solar installers is the core purpose of our service and is disclosed at the point of collection.

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Google Analytics 4 (traffic analysis and conversion tracking)

  • Google AdSense (ad serving on blog/content pages)

  • Do Not Sell: While we do not sell data to data brokers, California residents may email us at privacy@mountaineersolar.com with "Do Not Sell" requests under the CCPA/CPRA.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. To exercise these rights, email privacy@mountaineersolar.com with the subject line "CCPA Request."

TCPA Consent

By checking the consent box on our forms, you provide prior express written consent to receive calls and texts, including by autodialer, from Mountaineer Solar and up to three solar installation companies at the phone number you provide. Consent is not a condition of receiving a quote or purchasing any product or service. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts at any time.

Data Retention

We retain lead submissions for up to 24 months from the date of submission. Technical/analytics data may be retained for up to 14 months per standard analytics provider retention policies. We may retain data longer if required by law or to resolve disputes.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption and access controls on our data storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children

This site is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
